At Guy Fieri’s new theater district restaurant, gluttony is in the spotlight

Celebrity chef and TV host Guy Fieri, who elevated junk food to art, is opening Guy Fieri’s Kitchen & Bar on Thursday, December 9 in the former Explorer Café space (186 Tremont Street) overlooking Boston Common. It is a collaboration with Big Night Entertainment, known for its nightlife spots such as Tequila Cocina by Guy Fieri, Mystique and Mémoire at Encore Boston Harbor and Empire in the Seaport.

In true Fieri tradition, the menu reads like Mad Libs. Jalapeño “pork poppers” feature peppers stuffed with andouille cream cheese, wrapped in maple bacon and topped with ranch and barbecue sauce. The “trash” nachos have all the classic toppings, plus barbecue sauce; and “dirty” chili fries also contain crispy onions, sour cream, and bacon. Hot honey fried chicken, a bacon and cheese burger with six cheeses, baby back ribs and Cajun Chicken Alfredo complete the menu.

For dessert? Maybe a “cheesecake challenge,” which consists of half a cheesecake topped with chips. Wash it all down with a signature Bloody Mary that incorporates bourbon brown sugar and Buffalo sauce, beef jerky and candied bacon.

The 10,000 square foot space is open for dinner Thursday through Saturday from 4:30 p.m., with extended hours to follow.
