Candidates wanted for the Canandaigua Academy Arts Hall of Fame

CANANDAIGUA – Nominations are now sought for the inaugural Class of the Visual and Performing Arts Hall of Fame at the Canandaigua Academy.

The program, launched by the Canandaigua City School District last April, will publicly recognize and honor the remarkable achievements of graduates and educators at the reunion next year.

“The Canandaigua City School District places great importance on providing tremendous opportunities for students in the arts,” said Superintendent Jamie Farr. “Our students, graduates and contributors have a long history of excellence in these fields. ”

Applicants must have attended and graduated from Canandaigua Academy no later than Spring 2011. They must have made significant contributions to visual and performing arts programs sponsored by the school or its students over a period of time. ‘at least five years. They may also have made significant contributions to the arts in general after graduation.

Inductees will be recognized as graduates, creators, performers, practitioners and / or contributors, whichever best represents their demonstrated importance in the performing or visual arts.

“The arts are an integral part of our community and we want to celebrate the recipients accordingly,” said Caroline Chapman, director of communications and district councils. “We know there are many outstanding alumni in these fields and contributors who have made our programs phenomenally successful. “

The deadline for applications and recommendations is Tuesday, February 1, 2022. The 2022 homecoming date will be determined later this school year.

The school’s Holiday Prism concert is scheduled for December 15 and can be watched on the district’s YouTube page from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The spring musical, scheduled for March 11, 12, 13, 18 and 19, will be “SpongeBob SquarePants”.

And the Spring Art Exhibition will be held in the atrium of the Academy on May 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
