Corpus Christi Downtown Management District unveils new mural

The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District unveiled a new mural on the corner of Chaparral and Peoples streets on Friday.

The mural was commissioned by local and native Corpus Christi artist Cameron Walls. The walls were inspired for the mural of coastal curve sunsets.

This mural is one of the many projects that Walls has created throughout the Coastal Turn. The Corpus Christi native has works on display in Corpus Christi, Port Aransas and Rockport.

The management of downtown Corpus Christi unveiled a new mural on the corner of Chaparral Street and Peoples Street on Friday.

“It was an honor to be able to create this mural and leave my mark on downtown Corpus Christi,” Walls said in a statement. “When you go out to view the work, be sure to look for the fun print I hid in the mural.”

The mural project took several months of planning before starting at the end of August.

This new mural is part of a larger initiative to integrate public art into the beautification of the downtown area. The mural was created to capture DMD’s new vision of becoming the most vibrant downtown in the Gulf of Mexico.
