Gather the whole family or a group of friends and meet at the Briscoe Western Art Museum on Saturday for its annual celebration of National Cowboy Day.

Starting in 2005, National Cowboy Day was celebrated in a handful of Western states to preserve the history of cowboys.

Whether you have little ones to take along or are just a kid at heart, there is something for everyone. Take a themed guided tour of the museum, play a game of horseshoes, learn to lasso like a pro, or check out one of dozens of other offers for attendees of all ages.

Remember to save room for the barbecue, of course, which will be served by Munch Food Truck.

While the event ends at 2 p.m., you can return at 6.30 p.m. to Sips and Sounds of the West, with singer-songwriter Marcy Grace, Cake-N-Que Food Truck and a cash bar.

Free, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, Briscoe Western Art Museum, 210 W. Market St., (210) 299-4499, museumbrisco.org.
