Water District Holds Open Day

The Sweetwater Authority Water District is hosting a virtual and in-person Community Open House on May 19. The virtual sessions are at 4 p.m. in Spanish and 5 p.m. in English by Sweetwater Authority Chief Executive Carlos Quintero. The sessions will provide information about your water utility and what the authority does to provide safe and reliable water service to customers. The Zoom webinar link is at https://bit.ly/3968OBQ. An in-person session with facility tour will be held from 4-6 p.m. May 31 at the authority’s desalination facility at 3066 N. Second Ave., Chula Vista. The Spanish presentation is at 4 p.m. and the English presentation is at 5 p.m.

Reception of artists at the Bonita Museum

The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center is celebrating the “Light of California” exhibit with a public reception from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit explores the “California Light” through 43 artworks by members of the California Art Club exploring morning light, afternoon sun, and twilight. The exhibit will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday through June 24 at the museum, 4355 Bonita Road, Bonita. Also on display will be a separate “wet” gallery of outdoor paintings. Local sculptor and painter Mehl Lawson will lead a Bonita Paint Out at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Finished art will be featured in this “wet” gallery. Visit of the garden, cooking class this Saturday

Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center hosts these events Saturday at 2525 N Ave., National City:

  • Public visit and open garden, 10:00-11:301: Public viewing begins at 10:00 a.m., and guests are free to enjoy the gardens and learn about the center’s programs. No pre-registration required.

Fundraising evening for the Cabrillo Foundation

The Cabrillo National Monument Foundation is hosting its largest fundraiser, “Cabrillo Under the Stars,” from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the national park. Enjoy the park after hours with friends and family while helping to raise $50,000 to fund the park’s youth education programs. The foundation pays for supplies, resources, transportation and more for many Cabrillo National Monument programs. At the event, guests will find tasting stations from San Diego County establishments; an online and silent auction with unique objects; Corks 4 Cabrillo, a wine fundraiser with wines ranging from $15 and up per bottle; music and much more. The San Diego Blood Bank hosts these blood donation opportunities:
